Prepare the site and pour its foundation
Let’s start at the very beginning. This is the step, which outlines and determines the future of all the rest of them. Here, the construction crew levels the home’s site, which could mean clearing debris like trees and rocks to allow for a level surface. Next, the template of the home is laid out using wood forms and finally concrete is poured for the foundation. Since this stage is so critically, before it is deemed complete, a city inspector must come and approve of the work. Once considered up to code, the next stage can begin.
Next, the skeleton of the home is laid down. Here, the floor, walls and roof are put in place. Again, this stage puts in place the bare bones of the project. It gives a good sense of size and space both in and outside the home.
Complete basic plumbing electric and heating/cooling systems
This stage may just be the most critical of our list because it’s here most can go wrong. During this complicated step, pipes, wires, sewer lines, water supply lines, duct work, the HVAC system etc. are all installed. Due to the amount of installations of this phase, this stage usually includes at least three separate inspections to make sure each of the additions is safely and properly installed.
Following the completion of the electrical systems and plumbing, insulation is added. While there are many types of insulation to choose from, it’s important to choose the safest and most efficient option for your area. This stage is critical for the home’s overall comfort and expense.
Interior and exterior finishes begin
The final stage in the foundation of any home is the installation of the interior and exterior surfaces. This includes dry wall, brick, stucco or stone. Once this stage is complete, the home’s style comes more into view and its foundation is complete.
